Why timing and conditions matter
Nighttime and cool-weather conditions generally provide better heat separation between an animal and its surroundings, which makes a thermal sweep more effective. Searches may include yards, fields, woods, barns, sheds, crawlspace entrances, and other authorized areas where a clear line of sight is available.
How a search works
- Information gathering. We collect the pet's photograph, description, and last confirmed location.
- Review. We review recent sightings, likely hiding areas, and terrain before arriving.
- Structured sweep. A thermal sweep is conducted from authorized access points.
- Visual confirmation. Suspected thermal targets are confirmed visually whenever possible.
